FRUIT STAND DREAMS
I AM A FISH
ITALY ON THE WAY TO WORK
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS

Daylight Savings

I spring out of bed
as the seasons change
only seconds ago
I was bouncing
through the Pacific
like a puddle
skipping from
continent to continent
a frog hopping
on lily pads
The spring rolls into
the summer
has a good laugh
I pluck the sun out of the sky
and capture a lick
the moon spins her web
I seize a bite
you will notice
part of her missing
in the sky tonight
The earth is turning
she will soon
possess a new face
and the sun may
come out of hiding
ask the rain
to travel down south
because it is now time to
shine and shine
the evenings
are now expected
to be brighter
I feel a bit nostalgic
about old man time
he has supposedly
saved us something
the extra hour
where has it gone
perhaps it is deposited
into the sun’s
safety deposit box
and the world will
give out
a special discount
on sunsets
the powers
that be
need to offer
some clarity
about what I’m saving
I wonder who
made this decision
to move the arms
forward and back
twice a year
it is far more natural
to rise and rest
internally
ignore the clock
ticking
tocking
ticking
tocking
it is an unhealthy habit
