jennifer barone

Jennifer founded the WordParty with friends in the early ‘90‘s while hosting poetry parties in her living room in Brooklyn, NY. Due to an overwhelming crowd and a few knocks on the door by the local police, she eventually had to branch out to local venues (Click on the “About Us” link for the whole story). She now resides in San Francisco as the host of the WordParty along with Ingrid Keir, Daniel Heffez and Nova Jazz.

Jennifer is known to collaborate with local artists combining poetry, fine art and jazz in her performances and publications. She has been a featured poet at venues such as The Red Poppy Art House, The Beat Museum, SF MoMa, DeYoung, Randall Museum and many local poetry readings. She was a winner of the 2007 Poets Eleven city-wide contest selected by Jack Hirschman, former SF Poet Laureate / SF Public Library.

She is the author of two collections of poetry, Simple Language, 2003 and Secret City, 2007 - a bi-coastal collaboration with her father's original artwork in response to her poems. She is currently working on a new poetry collection about Italian food and love.
